The Center for Food Safety (CFS), a national non-profit organization founded in 1997 by Andrew Kimbrell, works to protect human health and the environment by curtailing harmful food production methods and by promoting organics and other sustainable alternatives.  CFS has a successful track record of using multifaceted strategies, including legal actions, policy initiatives, and public education, to accomplish its goals.  CFS has won several groundbreaking lawsuits against government agencies, including the EPA (including the historic Mass v. EPA global warming Supreme Court case) and USDA.

CFS also has significant success working with policymakers and has sponsored national and state legislation.  Each year, our science team publishes numerous reports, many of which have been used by government agencies and in policymaking.  Our online activist network – the True Food Network – is a group of more than 75,000 active individuals that regularly send comments to federal agencies, corporations, and other decision makers.

Engaging in policy advocacy, grassroots organizing, and science-based research, Navdanya has a unique capacity to link research and policy to action at local, domestic, and international levels.  Through its research and on-the-ground actions, Navdanya also is actively involved in rejuvenating indigenous knowledge and culture.
